When I first started affiliate marketing, one of the questions that came up again and again was ‘Why did you join affiliate marketing?' In this post, I tell you why I started affiliate marketing fully in 2021.

To be honest there were a number of reasons which you will see throughout this article. Some people start this business to make some extra cash while others want to make a career out of it!

However, no matter what reason you have for starting this business, it is still a serious thing. It's not just ‘Oh I just need to build another website and start earning'.

There are certain things that one has to keep in mind before getting into this business because otherwise there will be nothing left but regret.

Before I delve in deep, I'd like to state some wrong reasons why 75% of people in the business opt into affiliate marketing.

Some wrongs reasons why people go into business

1. To make money without doing any work

Well, affiliate marketing is not like your regular job where you feel relaxed and there is absolutely no pressure.

If you have ever had a 9 to 5 job or are probably currently in one, you might understand that sense of salary expectation, whether you beat yourself up on the job or simply did nothing through the month.

I've been there too.

Now, for this business to run successfully, one has to put in a lot of effort and work diligently. It's pretty much like running a mini-company within yourself.

2. To Money without a Product/Service

Really?

Money is made from selling something.

Anything sellable can fall in the category of a product or service, whether it's yours or someone else's.

Well, you might have known from the results so far, anyway. Indeed nothing comes from nothing!

The thing with affiliate marketing is that even if you want to sell someone else's product or service (which would be 101% likely), then you need to have something which tells people about it.

So basically when they click on your link and purchase the product, you'll get paid because when they buy the product through your link, it gives you a commission.

Marketing is scary, they say!

But is it? I don't think so.

Ok, ok! Let's just say it depends on your orientation. I bet you want to snap out of it and get your hands dirty with well-patterned or strategic marketing moves.

Here it is, even if you have the best product or service in the world, it isn't going to sell itself. You need to promote it and very often you would also need to learn new skills like marketing and selling.

This is because not everyone knows about what you have to offer and not everyone knows how they can benefit from your product or service!

Yes, this happens too.

Many people enter into this business thinking that they'll just build one website and will earn $$$ but what they don't realize is that what matters is the quality of the website which you are promoting, be it about affiliate marketing itself or any other niche!

Arguably, some might be lucky but only a few. You're not one of them, are you?

5. Earning money with Bad Market:

Well, this is closely related to the previous one.

Many people think that they will become affiliate marketers and make tons of moolah within weeks but what they don't realize is that there are niches where it's really tough to sell products!

For example, real estate or education.

There are people who have been in the business for years without being able to get success!

So, I'm saying that if you do not have the patience to gradually grow such a niche, you probably want to choose from one of the best-selling niches.

At least 25% of affiliate marketers are guilty of using spammy tactics like spamming forums, email lists, etc., to promote their links, resulting in getting banned from most programs.

If you are moved by the earnings of these few categories and are about to start on that faulty foundation, I advise you to think about it.

So if you are the type who is very keen about joining affiliate marketing, then never ever do these stupid things!

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online. If you have a blog or website, it's very simple and easy to get started with affiliate marketing.

The shocking part is that even without a full-blown website, you can make money by the simple use of WhatsApp Marketing.

When you are an affiliate, you are your own boss. It's up to you to determine which products or services will work for you and your audience.

For example, if I want to start a YouTube channel, I will buy my video equipment with my affiliate money instead of waiting for someone to give me permission to use their studio for free in exchange for exposure. This way, I can decide what equipment suits me best since it'll be paid for me anyway.

Also, when your blog starts getting traffic, there are tons of companies who want your readers as their customers…which means they will be willing to pay you commissions as long as they get new leads and customers.

3. You’re Selling What Pays as you sell what you believe in.

In affiliate marketing, you are being sold to when your favorite blogger keeps recommending a product that you love and admire. You just have to trust that what they recommend works well because their trust is also one of the factors why customers choose them over other marketers.

However, when it comes to affiliate marketing, the products that I promote on my blog doesn't need much convincing because I use them myself and they've been proven effective by me long before I started monetizing my website with affiliate marketing. Therefore, if a product or service can work for me, then chances are it'll work for you too!

4. To Acquire new valuable skill

If there's one thing I want you to take away from this post, it would probably be this.

Having your own blog is like having a free ticket to the school of life because you get to learn so many different things! You can use what you've learned on your blog and apply them in real life situations later on…which will make you more confident at whatever it is that you are doing.

I started my blog with zero knowledge about affiliate marketing but I was able to slowly but surely learn how to monetize my site just by trying out different strategies that other bloggers have successfully used.

As time passes by, I am now able to create new strategies myself after seeing what works best for me through testing each method one by one.

5. To multiply my passive income

Web hosting affiliate marketing is a type of affiliate that pays you as your web host customers stay as long as they maintain their current plan. So instead of making one commission from each customer, I can earn money month after month from the same person.

Over the past few years, affiliate marketing has been recognized as an important part of the business even for large companies such as Amazon and eBay.

In fact, currently, I’ve been focusing more on web hosting affiliate marketing because there have been so many new changes regarding this topic in the last couple of months alone!

9. The internet is the future of marketing

I am able to market my products and services around the world because all I need is a reliable wifi connection and a fast laptop…which these days are pretty accessible no matter where you go due to their lower prices.

For example, sometimes I get sent free items to review or receive discounts from hosting companies because they want to get more exposure, which is all done online.

10. Affiliate Marketing Boosts Your Reputation

Another reason why I started affiliate marketing is that it provides me with a chance to improve my reputation and be known for what I do even better!

For example, the more subscribers you get means the more people will take your opinion and expertise seriously…which can lead to bigger opportunities in the future such as being hired by someone else or being part of a book launch event down the road.

Just have patience regarding this topic because this area takes time to build up gradually but mastering affiliate marketing definitely pays off in the long run! 🙂
